MU students brought some heart and soul to Wrench Auditorium this week to show off their a cappella skills in the first ever Mizzou Idol audition.
Sophomore Lindsay Cooper auditioned Sunday.
But it was not her first time auditioning for Idol. She stood before American Idol judges in both Kansas City and Chicago.
“It’s was an experience. If there’s like a hundred people in the crowd, I’ll be a lot less nervous. I can’t see anyone. But, when there’s like four people watching, I get really nervous. It’s not too bad, though. It was ok. It was fun.”
Junior Maurico Bush also auditioned for American Idol when he was fifteen.
“I taught myself, basically. I like a wide range of artists; country, rock, I like everybody. When I sing, I like to incorporate all those genres into what I produce.”
Yet, those who auditioned were not all American Idol veterans.
Most students had no professional training at all, other than the occasional middle school musical.
This week’s auditions are for 15 open spots in next month’s final round.
