Fresh off the release of their new single, the dynamic duo that is Peter Wolf Crier is set to fill Mojo’s with its dulcet tones Tuesday, October 11. We receive them two weeks into their two-month journey cross country to promote their sophomore album, “Garden of Arms.” It’s the perfect time to catch them: they’re warmed up but not exhausted. And what’s more, there’s rain in the forecast. Offset that bleak mood with perfectly fitting tunes, described by All Music Guide as icy, melancholy and jagged.

So tonight, plan for mellow. Milagres kicks off the evening with their opening set at 8 p.m.

Confused? Here’s the short version: this lady is incredible. Classically trained and folk inclined, Davis takes the girl-on-a-piano role to a whole new level.

Tired of being scorned for merely aspiring to be one of us? If you’re a Mizzou student, here’s your chance to become the real thing. Join us in Allen Auditorium on Tuesday, 9/6, or Wednesday, 9/7, as we outline the functions of our departments (for example, promotions is in charge of slaying the dragons and those on music staff clean up) and set you up to meet Ben Affleck, who will be conducting this year’s training.

How about it, grasshopper? Got a jones for radio? Come on down.

But seriously, what else are you going to do on a Tuesday/Wednesday night? Homework? Nah, this will be more fun.

Some people claim fruity drinks are for chicks. We have only one thing to say to those people: clearly you haven’t heard about Fruits ‘N Booze.

Shoot down the stereotype with Turbo Fruits as they reprise last year’s soul-shaking, shot-taking visit at Mojo’s on Thursday night. Having performed with the likes of Dinosaur Jr. and The Black Keys, the garage rock four-piece is prepared to shake the dust from the rafters.

They don’t call it Thirsty Thursday for no reason, folks. This week, why not quench your thirst – and your appetite for bangin’ shows – with us? The ruckus begins at 8:30 p.m.

As if you weren’t already overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff you own as you were moving in, we have even more for you! In celebration of our new studio, a functional broadcast, and surviving packing and repacking and unpacking, we’ve got goodies for you and yours. Bored on campus next week? Head out to Speaker’s Circle and look for the giant orange tent. There will be a horde of super fly people waiting to bestow upon you handfuls of neat trinkets to stick up and throw around.

Oh, and by the way, you should be excited for our upcoming shows. We have some doozies approaching, starting with round two of Fruits ‘N Booze at Mojo’s on September 1!

of Montreal‘s name rose from the ashes of lead singer Kevin Barnes’ failed romance with a woman from Montreal. If you aren’t down to suffer a heartbreak so profound that you are moved to name a band after it, you shouldn’t miss Saturday’s show at The Blue Note. But don’t think for a second these Georgia natives are only capable of doom and gloom – they’re bringing everything from bangin’ bass to twee pop to the table, and there’s a place set for you!

It may be an American holiday weekend, but won’t you consider thinking of our neighbors to the north? The salute begins at 8 p.m.

If 27 years of groundbreaking indie rock isn’t reason enough to head out to Yo La Tengo on Monday, how about David Cross? That’s right, “Arrested Development” fans, Tobias Fünke himself worked with YLT on their 2007 music video for “Sugarcube.” So find “The Man Inside (You),” slip on your favorite pair of cut-offs and somersault over to The Blue Note June 20 for a slice of alt-rock joy. After all, an analrapist’s (that’s analyst + therapist) endorsement is hard to ignore!

Show off those cat-like moves at 7:30 p.m.

We wouldn’t want to disappoint Miss Black, now would we? Satisfy your party craving TONIGHT at The Blue Note! Admire the sick tracks and even sicker booty poppin’ laid down by Hush Hush. Bob your head to the catchy pop of the Smith Westerns. And then – the main event! Traverse the desert of melodic afrobeat synth dance goodness with Yeasayer as your guide! It’s a show you don’t want to miss.

Your vision quest begins at 8 PM.

Anyhow, most of us aren’t huge planners during the summer. We here at the station totally understand, but June 3 is one date you’re going to want to write down. When it rolls around, strap on those hiking boots (which hopefully also function as dancing shoes) and blaze a trail to The Blue Note to join us in welcoming Yeasayer! It will be like a hike in the Australian Outback for your mind: dizzy, sweaty, and absolutely life-changing.

Save the date, Columbia! The heat will be brought at 8 PM.

Bands named after airplanes? Totally rad. Bands named after airplanes that make use of a double neck bass/guitar? Sounds like we need to create a new type of rad-ness. Tonight, we welcome such a band at Mojo’s: El Ten Eleven! This two man, super powerful, dance-rock outfit from Los Angeles takes the stage with Lynx and Haii Usagi tonight at 8:30 pm.

But don’t think a show can give you enough El Ten Eleven rad-ness? Make sure to tune in this afternoon at 3:30 as the duo hits up our studio in Lower Pershing for some intimate talk and the possibility of some rockin’ tunes.
