Unpaid taxes and financial statements are at the heart of controversies surrounding the Democratic race for presiding commissioner.

Hectic aptly describes the Democratic primary race for Boone County presiding commissioner.

First came the disqualification of Democratic candidate, Bondi Wood, for not filing her personal financial statements.

Then another Democrat for commissioner, John Sam Williamson faced, political controversy after the revelation that he did not pay part of his taxes.

He soon paid them off, but the damage was already done.

His Democratic opponent, 41-year old Scott Christianson said Williamson’s actions are a “political reality.”

Christianson, a Rock Bridge and University of Missouri graduate, is a 41-year-old progressive.

He has managed to keep his hands relatively clean during the controversial lead up to today’s vote.

The winner of the Democratic primary faces Republican candidate Ed Robb this November.

Among the most looming challenges facing the county is an ailing budget and reduced revenue.
