British authorities lifted the ban on air travel as of 4 p.m. CT Tuesday. Flights across Europe have been canceled this past week due to ash clouds from eruption of a volcano in Iceland.
MU junior Austin Kim was en route to Barcelona, Spain, when his flight was canceled, trapping him at London’s Heathrow airport.
“[European Union] rules require that every passenger that’s booked on a European Airline must get a refund, and if they’re on the return leg of their journey, the airline must provide some compensation,” Kim explained.
Kim said he and other MU students trapped in London enjoyed the “beautiful weather.”
