UPDATE 5: TIGERS WIN! They defeat Illinois 4-2 on Sunday to sweep their regional and await the announcement of where they will play in the Super Regional. Georgia Tech’s loss to Oregon makes the Ducks out of the Pac-10 their opponent for the three-game series of the next round. Missouri’s higher seed makes it likely Columbia will host the Super Regional, but nothing is certain until the announcement of the sites.

UPDATE 4: Illinois eliminates DePaul in Saturday’s nightcap 9-1. They will face Missouri for the right to advance to the NCAA Super Regional. The Tigers’ unbeaten record means Illinois must beat them twice in order to move on, while Missouri only needs to top the Illini once.

UPDATE 3: DePaul beats Creighton 3-2, but it took 9 innings to do it. Creighton has been eliminated from the NCAA Softball Championship, and DePaul must beat Illinois in a game starting around 6 p.m. Saturday. The winner of that game will play Missouri on Sunday at 1.

UPDATE 2: Missouri defeats Illinois 3-1 behind the strong pitching of Kristin Nottleman, who threw a complete game. The next Tiger game will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the winner of tonight’s 5 p.m. game.

UPDATE: Illinois defeats DePaul 4-2 and Missouri defeats Creighton 3-2 in Fridy’s action. Missouri and Illinois play Saturday at noon. Creighton and DePaul play at 2:30 p.m.

The No. 9 seeded Missouri Tigers play host to Illinois, DePaul, and Creighton this weekend in regional action of the 2010 NCAA Softball Championship. The Tigers are coming off a 9-0 loss to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship game.  The first game is Friday at 6:30 p.m. Depending on how the Tigers play, the time of their next game could be as early as noon on Saturday.
