A bill that would make drug users in the state of Missouri ineligible for welfare may go into effect.
Republican Senators are trying to persuade the Missouri Department of Social Services to organize a drug-testing program for those eligible to receive welfare.
The drug-testing bills that are being proposed vary from allowing welfare recipients to getting back benefits after passing a drug test to decreeing a three-year ban on welfare if failing a drug test.
A similar bill went through the House last year but died in the Senate.
