After being named a semifinalist earlier this month, Missouri kicker Harrison Mevis was not among the three finalists for the 2022 Lou Groza Award for a third straight season. The junior was named a semifinalist in 2020 and in 2021.
The Lou Groza Award announced the three finalists — North Carolina State’s Christopher Dunn, Stanford’s Joshua Karty and Michigan’s Jake Moody — Tuesday. Mevis was among the 20 semifinalists named on Nov. 10.
Mevis made 21 of his 27 field goal attempts this year with his long coming from 56 yards out. On extra points, the Warsaw, Indiana, product was 21-for-21 in 12 games played.
The junior kicker attempted one kickoff this season in the Tigers’ Nov. 19 win over New Mexico State. With specialist Sean Koetting on his way out after this season, Mevis was likely preparing himself for a future on kickoffs, too, booting a touchback.
