After breaking even in Florida to start its season, Missouri (5-4) began its home schedule with a dominant win against Alabama A&M, cruising to victory at Taylor Stadium in 2019.
It was a bullpen game for the Tigers as pitcher Trae Robertson only pitched 2 innings, allowing 2 runs in the 2nd Inning. It was Robertson’s first start this season, but his third appearance. Relievers Tommy Springer, and Seth Halvorsen combined to allow three runs.
It was a tough game for Halvorsen, recovering from a Torn UCL he suffered in the fall, allowed one run, while hitting Alabama A&M’s Stephan Soto, and throwing a wild pitch. Star outfielder Kameron Misner- ranked No. 11 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 draft prospects- went 1-4 in the game, while walking 2 times, one intentional.
The standout performer of the game was Columbia native and outfielder Connor Blumfield, who went 1-4 with 4 RBIs.
Alabama A&M kept the game competitive and even had the lead after five innings, but four errors and three Missouri stolen bases proved costly. Starter Logan Smith was excellent until the 4th inning when he allowed three runs, but couldn’t complete the fifth, culminating with four straight walks allowed.
Up next for Missouri, they travel to Conway, Arkansas to play Central Arkansas on Friday, South Dakota St on Saturday. Alabama A&M, they head to Huntingville, Mississippi, for a three-game series against Alcorn State.
