After winning the first two games of the series, the Missouri Tigers dropped the series finale against the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles by the score of 2-1.
The Tigers defensive struggles were the story of the game, as they had six errors in the first five innings. Southern Miss 3B Bradley Roney hit a two-run home run to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead in the 4th. Southern Miss P Cameron Giannini pitched 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing only four hits, one earned run, and striking out four batters.
Missouri’s offense didn’t come alive until the 8th inning, when they scored their only run of the game. Missouri P and leadoff batter Eric Anderson went 1 for 3 from the plate, while Missouri 3B Zach Lacy went 2 for 3.
Giannini was the winning pitcher, Anderson was the losing pitcher, and Roney got the save as a relief pitcher. Missouri falls to 6-7 on the season with the loss. Their home stand continues on Tuesday when they face the Alcorn State Braves at 6 pm.
