Takeoff – Last Memory (SEAMLESS) The “mute of the Migos,” Takeoff, has announced that “The Last Rocket” will land on Nov. 2. Along with the announcement, Takeoff released the single “Last Memory” a melodic, yet choppy tune that displays his ability to weave seamlessly throughout verses with assistance from his ad-libs. Asian Doll – Headspin (feat. YBN Nahmir) (POWERFUL) If you’re looking for a new banger this weekend, this is it. “Headspin” is the last track off Asian Doll’s new album, Icy Princess, and by far one of the best songs in the set–the off kilter rhythm in the hook drives you to want more, and […]

By Lily Kraxberger Hallam George’s new song is soulful and down to earth, featuring smooth and funky guitar lines and varied vocals (plus a killer whistling hook to start). As a bonus, he includes sounds from his new home of Boston under the track, making it fresh while retaining his usual personality.

By Cam Fuller The new singles from experimental artist Kagami Smile are rooted in classic house and ambient sounds, but hold enough of their own style to stand out. Though combining the two styles isn’t totally new, Smile’s reverb-soaked take on electronic music is original enough to almost be considered a new genre.

By Elad Gov-Ari The Introductory track to Lala Lala’s newest album “The Lamb,” is certainly a contradiction from name and actuality. The song Destroyer pairs mellow guitars in the verses to a contrasting ‘heavier’ vocal melody in the chorus which shapes up to a pretty played out sound, and leaves destruction pretty far out of mind.

Wild Nothing – Canyon on Fire (ETHEREAL)

By Theo Bloom ‘Canyon on Fire’, by Jack Tatum’s Wild Nothing, is a sonically beautiful and dense ode to L.A. Backed by layered synths, a solid guitar riff and with etherial sounding reverb, Tatum contemplates the American Dream’s end game as he sees it up in the Hollywood Hills. ‘Canyon on Fire’ is arguably the […]

By Ben Luty I don’t know how he does it, but everything Kanye West does is simultaneously genius and idiotic. Kanye is no stranger to things that somehow manage to be good and bad. On ye, he decides to release a seven-song, 23-minute album that was pretty clearly written and produced within the last month […]
