Auburn Outlasts Mizzou in Series Opener

Game one of the battle of Tigers went to Auburn University Thursday night at Taylor Stadium as they defeated the University of Missouri 11-9 in a wild shootout. The two teams combined for 20 runs on 30 hits.
The home starter Reggie McClain struggled greatly, surrendering eight runs on 12 hits in only five innings of work. Mizzou went down early 5-2 but struck for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. That was the end of the scoring for them as Auburn reliever Ben Braymer pitched five innings of shutout ball, surrendering only two hits and one walk while striking out 11.
By the sixth inning Auburn (15-15 overall 3-7 in SEC) were able to knot the game up and take the lead in the eighth inning and add an insurance run in the ninth.
Missouri (18-14 2-8 in SEC) will look to even up the series Friday night at Taylor Stadium as Tanner Houck takes the bump for the home Tigers. Auburn will look for consecutive SEC wins for the first time all season.
