Gertz goes to SEC Nation

By Alana Gertz
As Mizzou football arrived back home, we all got a special treat. SEC Nation came here to Columbia, Missouri, and I was fortunate enough to get the behind-the-scenes scoop on the event.
We had two full days of SEC Network programs broadcasted by the West Lawn of the Hearnes Center. Friday afternoon was filled with the Paul Finebaum show, featuring many special guests on the show including Mizzou football head coach Barry Odom, Mizzou men’s basketball head coach Cuonzo Martin, football analyst Tim Tebow and more! I decided to make a stop Friday afternoon to check show out and got lucky enough to have met Tim Tebow!

The following day I got the chance to go on the other side of the fence and see what happens behind the scenes of SEC Nation production. I saw how they set-up and how the talent prepare for the broadcast, and I had no idea that they tape segments before it actually goes live. I also got the chance to talk to some of the fans there and hear from them about how excited they were to have SEC Nation here at Mizzou. They were telling me that it’s a “once in a lifetime experience” to have a very popular broadcast production come to the Mizzou campus.
It was a special gathering that morning. People were out supporting SEC Nation and tailgating or cheering on the football team for Tiger Walk. For me personally, it was really cool to see the crazy amounts of school spirit and enthusiasm the students and community had about SEC Nation coming into town. It was definitely a wonderful weekend and an amazing opportunity!
