MSA presidential candidates Blaine Thomas and Claire Jacobs, as well as vice presidential candidate Caius Gillen, withdrew from the race yesterday. This comes after the candidates received backlash for old tweets that included many examples of derogatory language. Gillen released a statement on Twitter apologizing for his tweets.
The Missouri Tigers took on the Drake Bulldogs in Game 2 of the Mizzou Tournament in Columbia, MO on Friday March 2, 2018. Mizzou started rolling immediately by scoring the first one of the game in the bottom of the 1st inning courtesy of a RBI single by Rylee Pierce, bringing in Amanda Sanchez, Regan Nash advancing to 3rd base, and Pierce advancing to 2nd base, off of a throwing error by Drake 2nd baseman, Kennedy Frank. The Tigers weren’t able to capitalize on the opportunity to bring in two more as Burnside flew out to Center Field.
The BEC announced in a press release that suspension on campaigning has been lifted. The statement from BEC chair Joseph Sell clarified that there were no enforceable infractions. The suspension was initially attributed to concern over remarks candidates made on social media.
