Pitcher’s Duel until Bliss blisters the Tigers and steals the spotlight on Senior Night

By Justin Craft
Mizzou is looking to find a way to bounce back after the defeat yesterday to Auburn 15-6 and get their offense surging early in this game. Auburn is looking to carry over the same momentum from Thursday’s victory.
In the Top of the 1st inning, 1B Tyler Miller doubles to right field, and then 3B Rankin Woley reaches on a fielding error by 1B Torin Montgomery, scores Miller, 1-0.
Then later in the Top of the 5th inning Ryan Bliss hits a two run HR to left field his 14th HR of the season, scores RF Bryson Ware, 3-0. Which put the finishing touches on the scoring in this game.
Auburn’s pitching staff was on point all night only giving up 3 hits to Mizzou and holding them scoreless through 9 innings. Auburn’s starting pitcher: Richard Fitts set the tone early and didn’t look back, pitching 8 innings, struck out 7 and only gave up one hit. Mizzou’s Seth Halvorsen pitched exceptionally well too, but had the one impactful mistake giving up the HR. He pitched 8 innings, gave up two runs, struck out 7, and only gave up four hits.
In the bottom of the 9th inning, Mizzou was looking to rally with bases loaded, no outs and then Auburn’s pitching coach came out of the dugout to talk to Closer Carson Skipper, and he found a way to get out of the jam striking out C Tre Morris and making Brandt Belk ground into a double play.
Auburn keeps their winning streak going, now four straight and are going for the season sweep on Saturday against Mizzou. Mizzou would love to respond with a win to end the season on a high note.
