Powered by Wilmes, Mizzou softball rallies for game two win over Georgia

By Cole Tussing
Brooke Wilmes was on a mission yesterday.
The play of Missouri’s sophomore right fielder- paired with great pitching from the Tiger defense- was enough able to get the Tigers their first SEC win of the season with a 7-3 final score over Georgia Saturday morning.
This win for the Tigers improves their record to 12-11 overall. As for the Bulldogs, its was their first conference loss of the year, dropping their record to a still impressive 25-5.
There was no shortage of offense- there were ten runs scored. Missouri drew first blood in the bottom of the first, off a double from Jazmyn Rollin’s, scoring Wilmes. It didn’t take long for Georgia to answer back, and after a home run from Mahlena O’Neal, which brought the score to 2-1 UGA.
After Georgia responded so quickly, Missouri brought the fast-paced offense they’re known for, trying to get the edge.
They got just that. In the bottom of the 4th inning, the pinch hitter Kara Decker, doubled to left field bringing Gabby Garrison to score and to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead. After the RBI from Decker, the Tigers sealed the win with an insurance run was off of Wilmes double.
