Tigers roll to victory over Wagner without MPJ

Logan Krenik
The Mizzou Tigers remain undefeated during this regular season as they roll to a 44 victory over the Wagner Seahawks 99-55.
The Tigers led from the outset as they led by 16 in the first 10 minutes of the game and continued to build on that lead throughout.
Led in the first half by Kassius Robertson and Jontay Porter they jumped out to a 54-21 point lead at the end of the first half as the second half followed suit of the first half with more hustle and effort from the Tigers.
Kassius Robertson led the way for the Tigers with 23 points.
For the Wagner Seahawks, their lone bright spots were performances from Jojo Cooper and Blake Frances. Frances scored 17 points while Cooper scored 11.
Jojo Cooper sat for the first time this season in the second half as he didn’t sit in Wagner’s first game as well as the first half of the game this evening.
Mizzou was able to keep up their intense defensive pressure as their length continued to cause major problems for Wagner tonight and we can begin to expect that throughout the rest of the season.
The Tigers’ ability to alter shots and get hands and arms in passing lanes will hide very well for them as they continue on in their schedule.
Cuonzo Martin was able to get major minutes from guys who normally don’t play like Brett Rau and Adam Wolf who put in 3 points each.
Missouri still has not trailed this season and will look to continue that as the season moves forward. They have been able to jump out to early leads in both games thus far against Iowa State and Wagner.
Missouri shot 68% from the field and 54.5% from beyond the 3-point arc however, they only shot 66% from the free throw line. If Mizzou is going to win games later on in February and March, they are going to have to be better from the line especially in crunch situations when teams are fouling. But for now, we can enjoy a 44 point win over Wagner.
As we look ahead on the season Mizzou will move on to play the Utah Utes on Thursday November 16 in Utah and the Wagner Seahawks will play American University this Saturday at home.
