The Missouri men’s basketball team beat the Lindenwood Lions 82-53 at Mizzou Arena Sunday night to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Kobe Brown led the team in scoring with 15 points, and he shot 7-10 from the field. Noah Carter followed him with 14, and graduate guard Nick Honor earned 11 points. With their 20 assist performance vs. the Lions as a team, the Tigers earned 20 assists in the first three games of their season.
In regards to this statistic, head coach Dennis Gates said, “It’s a great stat to have. It allows us to now continue what I truly believe is who we are, and that’s winning by committee.” Kobe Brown led the Tigers with six assists, which Gates also gave praise to in his post game presser. Graduate guard Tre Gomillion, senior guard Sean East II and senior guard Isiaih Mosley each contributed three assists of their own. It is worth noting that Mosley played 14 minutes in this game after being a healthy scratch against Penn.
The Tigers also won the battle in the paint by out-rebounding the Lions 41-33 and outscoring them 50-16 in the paint. When Gates was questioned about the Tigers’ dominance in the paint, Gates attributed it to Lindenwood seeing how well the Tigers shot in their last game vs. Penn and made an effort of pushing players off the line. The Tigers shot 54% from the field (34-63) and 29.6% from deep (8-27), while Lindenwood shot 26.8% from the field (15-56) and 20.8% from deep (5-24). After an overall dominating performance, the Tigers look to keep their undefeated start to the Dennis Gates era alive when they take on SIUE on November 15 at Mizzou Area at 7 p.m.
