On senior night at Mizzou Arena, contributions from the University of Missouri’s longest-tenured Tigers weren’t enough to wrangle the Gators as the University of Florida pulled off a rare road upset, defeating the Tigers 61-52.
Seniors Hayley Frank and Lauren Hansen led the way with 16 and 12 points respectively, but a lack of major contributions elsewhere on the floor left the Tigers unable to keep with the Gators throughout the second half. Leilani Correa led the way for Florida, posting 16 rebounds and five assists, both season highs, as well as 17 points, 13 of which came in the first half. The Tigers managed just six points in the second quarter, and they never found their footing in the second half long enough to even threaten a comeback.
Graduate student Haley Troup amassed seven points, eight rebounds and three assists in her final game at Mizzou Arena. Postgame, an emotional Troup thanked the Columbia community for welcoming her and supporting her over the past several years. The Gadsden, Alabama native was a member of the women’s basketball team for six years, redshirting her freshman year before appearing in 145 total contests for the black and gold. Troup started 80 games over the last three seasons. Her 141 career 3-pointers puts her in the top ten all-time in Missouri program history. Troup graduated in December with a Master’s degree in positive coaching, and she plans to pursue collegiate coaching following the conclusion of Missouri’s season.
