Missouri Softball extends its series record against the visiting Drake Bulldogs to 27-4 after a midweek contest at Missouri Softball Complex Wednesday evening.
Freshman, Cierra Harrison, dominated in the circle going five innings with only one allowed run on two hits. Harrison tied a career-high recording eight strikeouts facing 18 batters. Her record now improves to 6-1. Lauren Krings came in to close the game in the top of the sixth. She allowed no runs on two hits and two strikeouts.
The first runs for the game came in the second inning when Chantice Phillips scored from first on a Payton Jackson double.
The seven-run offensive Tiger performance was led by Kara Daly. Daly went 2-3 recording a double and 4 RBIs, two of which came off of her two-run blast in the bottom of the third inning. This marks her seventh multi-RBI game of the season.
Also recording an RBI on the day was Chantice Phillips who scored Daly on a single up the middle in the bottom of the fifth.
On top of offensive and defensive performances, the Tigers stole eight bases in the contest, which is the second-highest this season for the team. Leading that was Alex Honnold with four stolen bases.
The Bulldogs move through four pitchers in this seven-inning game. Molly Hoekstra (2.0 IP), Emma Dighton (1.1 IP), Paige Bedsworth (1.2 IP), and Jayme Sheck who closed with one inning pitched. The Bulldogs loss is given to Paige Bedsworth.
Notable performers for the Bulldogs include Carey Koeing who went 1-2 on the day recording the only RBI of the game on a double.
Missouri Softball record improves to 20-11 after this win, and will head to Alabama to take on Auburn this weekend for a three-game series.
