The endless wander through the SEC continues as Dennis Gates’s Missouri Tigers lose 83-74 in Gainesville. After going through a back and forth throughout the game, the Florida Gators came up when it counted to increase the lead and shut the door on Missouri.
Nick Honor fueled the possible comeback for the Tigers, despite having a less than desirable first half. He went 1-6 from the field in the opening half with only one rebound and one assist. With 11 minutes left, he lead a 6-1 run to cut the score from 54-48 to 55-54. Honor would finish with 18 points, one rebound, three assists, and one steal.
The Tigers would get five steals in the second half with two from Anthony Robinson. Unfortunately, that did not stop them from giving up the rock just as much. They would give up five turnovers, three of which were by Sean East. Two of these turnovers were in the crucial final two minutes that Mizzou needed to keep pace with Florida.
Despite giving up those poorly timed turnovers, East was a large productor in the comeback for the Tigers. He shot 6-9 from the field with 14 points in the second half. He also chipped in four assists and four rebounds. His 20 points for the game were a team best.
With the final home stint coming up for the Tigers, there are now only three more chances for Tigers to finally punch a one in that conference win column.
