The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Missouri Tigers 9-6 in Athens, Ga. Saturday night.
The game started off disappointingly for the Tigers; despite an interception by safety Ian Simon, the offense could not score a touchdown, opting for a 4^th-down field goal. The next Georgia drive, Missouri missed multiple chances to intercept Bulldogs quarterback Greyson Lambert again, but forced a three-and-out. The Missouri defense continued to stop the Georgia offense, keeping the Bulldogs to only a field goal in the first half.
The Missouri offense could not take advantage, as the young wide receivers continued to drop balls, and kicker Andrew Baggett missed a field goal with 1:38 in the first quarter. Baggett redeemed himself at the end of the half, putting Missouri up 6-3.
The second half started quietly; Georgia pounded the run game, but Missouri’s defense stopped the offense. Missouri quarterback Drew Lock nearly threw a pick on 2^nd and 6 with 10:52 left in the 3^rd quarter, but it was ruled out of bounds. The next Missouri drive, Georgia safety Dominick Sanders was ejected after a targeting call; Sanders came in helmet-to-helmet with wide receiver Emanuel Hall. That drive was allowed to continue, but then Missouri’s Cam Hilton fumbled a punt return, leading to a Georgia field goal.
The Bulldogs had an opportunity to pull away in the 4^th quarter but kicker Marshall Morgan missed a 26-yard field goal with 5:40 remaining in the fourth quarter. The next Georgia drive started off with a 17-yard return by Terry Godwin. Morgan kicked a 34-yarder to seal the game up. Lock found wideout J’Mon Moore on the Tigers’ last play, but the catch was ruled out of bounds.
