Although the subject matter is heavy as H.E.R. pleads with her significant other to “let her in” on the 3rd track on her self-named 2017 album, she doesn’t go the expected route. While some would think this subject matter would call for a sad, melodic tone, she comes strong with a background beat to match. The lyrics aren’t especially difficult to process, but her hypnotic voice more than makes up for that.
