Jackson State linebacker Aubrey Miller Jr. accepted an invitation to the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl on Monday. Prior to his last two seasons with Jackson State, Miller was a four-star recruit, taking his talents to Missouri.
Ranked the 13th-best outside linebacker in his 2017 class according to 247Sports, the Memphis product turned heads with numerous awards in his senior season of 2016, including Tennessee Titan Mr. Football Class 6A Lineman.
Miller played four seasons with Missouri, before entering the transfer portal after 2020, but he struggled to find consistency with the Tigers. Following a freshman season where he missed time with a cracked bone in his leg, he returned with a force the following spring, leading all players with 10 tackles in the Black & Gold Game. Seeing action in 22 games, only two after the 2018 season, the linebacker picked up just seven total tackles for Missouri.
Miller became a different linebacker once he transferred to Jackson State. In 13 starts last season, he totaled 109 tackles, 53 solo, which led the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Now in his last season of eligibility, Miller has 71 total tackles through nine games played. His efforts were rewarded, too, as he will play against some of the best senior talent in the country Feb. 4 in Mobile, Alabama.
On the Missouri front, none of the current seniors accepted an invite, but senior defensive end Isaiah McGuire may do so soon. Declaring for the NFL Draft at the end of the 2022 season, McGuire is presumably joining his former teammate, Miller, in Mobile.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl highlighted McGuire prior to the Tennessee game last Saturday along with Volunteers offensive lineman Darnell Wright for the Matchup of the Week. McGuire totaled three tackles and one sack against the No. 5 team in the country.
