Arkansas shut Missouri out at Mizzou Softball Stadium Friday in the first game of the Tigers’ final regular season series. The Razorbacks scored nine runs on 12 hits and ended the game in a run-rule five innings.
There wasn’t enough ball and bat contact for Missouri. Alex Honnold was the only Tiger to earn any hits, as Arkansas’ Chenice Delce controlled the entire game from the rubber. Delce tallied five strikeouts and two hits across 16 at bats.
Meanwhile, Jordan Weber saw less success from the mound. She opened for the Tigers and gave up two runs off a hit from Kristina Foreman who also hit a double on her second plate appearance.
After Missouri left two runners on base in the first, the Razorbacks extended their lead in the second as Lauren Camenzind scored off Raigan Kramer’s hit to center field.
Payton Jackson almost hit a home run in the second, but an over-the-wall save forced a one-two-three inning for the Tigers.
Missouri coach Larissa Anderson replaced Weber with Megan Schumacher in the third, but, despite pitching a scoreless fourth, Schumacher struggled to find the strike box in the fifth. Arkansas scored five runs off four hits, including one score from a wild pitch.
Missouri (31-23, 5-17) continues its series Saturday against Arkansas (38-14, 14-8). The first pitch is set for 4:00 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on KCOU.FM.
