At Soccer Media Day Wednesday, Missouri Soccer Coach Bryan Blitz and sophomore midfielder Savannah Trujillo discussed the Tigers’ solid weekend, as well as the upcoming challenges that come with a light schedule.

The Missouri Soccer Team is coming off a successful weekend, picking up a win against Kentucky on Friday, and a draw versus Mississippi State on Sunday. On media day Wednesday, coach Bryan Blitz discussed the Tigers’ next big challenge.
“To be able to bounce back and perform this weekend against a really good Kentucky team and Mississippi State team, our challenge now is how do we be consistent after having a good weekend.”
According to Blitz, a major key to maintaining consistency is bringing the same level of intensity to each and every practice.
“Our rule is after a win or any performance, not a win, 12 o’clock we move on, so I think what they know, they’ve done it long enough is that in the SEC, you don’t bring you’re a-game into practice, it’s not going to show up on the weekend.”
Practicing well will be especially important now, as the Tigers are in the middle of a stretch of 11 days with only one game. However, Blitz isn’t worried about the extended time off, as long as the players keep up the effort in practice.
“I think it’s always good to have time away, I think sometimes less is more as the grind goes. But that means, and they know, that if we’re in practice we expect focus all the way from the first minute to the last minute.”
Sophomore Savannah Trujillo, who scored twice over the weekend, mirrored Blitz’s sentiment on practicing with time off.
“I think it does a lot for us just because our practices are harder so we push ourselves to new lengths that we know we can get to.”
Overall, Trujillo believes that good things are in store for this Tiger team.
“We’re pretty positive, we stay pretty positive, we know we’ve put in the hard work and now we just have to believe that we can do it.”
Missouri takes the field next on Friday, Oct. 9 against LSU.
