3 years after “The Love Panic,” an album not unlike Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” due to its subject matter dealing with the tumultuous relationship between bandmates/lovers Jake Rabinbach and Shannon Esperand, The Echo-Friendly has returned with a single called “Power Through” that describes the status of their relationship. No longer center stage is Rabinbach’s monotone, yet emotive vocals as Esperand has taken the reigns as sole lead singer. Now not present is the surf-rock flavor and influences that were evident in their debut LP. Nonetheless, these Memphis natives turned Brooklyn transplants are back better than ever with a solid indie-rock project, “Surveying the Damage,” that will surely hold any Echo-Friendly fans over for the long wait.
