Mizzou softball flops in first midweek home game, loses to Bradley 8-1

By Garrett Jones
Missouri came into Tuesday’s home game against Bradley with significant momentum on the heels of a series win over No. 9 Georgia over the weekend.
It didn’t last long. Bradley starting pitcher Grace French made sure of that.
French hurled 7.0 innings of one-run ball in a complete game effort that paved an easy way for the Braves to take an upset 8-1 win at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
Bradley had a lot of help from the long ball. The Braves used a strong breeze that carried out to right field to its advantage on the first day of Spring in 2019. They hit three homers- the first from catcher Kaelea Wysocki.
Cassie Gasper made her ninth start of the season- and it didn’t go as planned. She was lifted after three innings of work, and Missouri’s bullpen couldn’t stop the bleeding, either.
Julia Navarro piled on with a three-run home run in the fifth, and Bradley ended up sealing the blowout after a Missouri sixth-inning rally came up short.
There’s no rest for the weary- Missouri takes on a significant challenge in Lexington this weekend to battle Kentucky. The Wildcats boast an impressive 21-7 record, and are off to a 6-0 start in conference play.
