Soccer dominates Albany at home

The Missouri Tigers shut out the University of Albany Great Danes 3-0 at Aubrey J. Walton Field on Sunday night.
Mizzou (5-4-1) has won three consecutive games. The Tigers were able to hold the majority of the possession against Albany (2-7) during the first and second half.
While it was strong defense on both sides, Mizzou stepped in to take the lead with only 7 minutes remaining in the first half. Number 31, Madison Lewis, was the first to break the defense, making the score 1-0.
Entering the second half of the game, the ball remained in the Great Danes’ territory leading the Tigers to pull away in shots on goal. The second goal of the night, shot by Tess Rellihan, went through the hands of Great Danes’ goalkeeper and into the top right corner of the net.
The third and final goal of the night was shot by Tess Rellihan again, making that her second goal of the night. The strong offensive positioning brought the Tigers a win against the Great Danes.
Mizzou will try for another win at Mississippi State on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. The Great Danes will look to bounce back when they face the UMBC Retrievers on Sept. 24 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
